Durham, North Carolina.— The most experience Cuban pitching was unable to restrain the USA Baseball team’s hitters who scored five runs against starter Bladimir Baños in the centenary ballpark of Durham Bulls.

The final scoreboard of the second match ended in a 1-5 victory for USA, and like last Sunday evening, the Cuban hitters went through a slump.

Roger Machado’s squad had five hits and Raúl González stood out with three, one of them was a double. Juan Carlos Torriente and Olber Peña had one apiece.

Relief pitcher José Ramón Rodríguez climbed on the mound in the second inning with two outs, he worked for five innings allowing no runs. Alaín Sánchez rescued him and ended the game without runs, and only one hit allowed, he also had two struckouts and one walk.

In these two games in North Carolina the Cuban pitching has 3.78 ERA.

The USA Baseball opened the score in the first inning with a double by Travis Swaggerty and a two-run homerun by Steele Walker.

Two doubles by Braden Shewmake and Travis Swaggerty, a single by Nick Madrigal, a base on balls to Jake McCarthy and a wild pitch produced three runs for the locals in the next inning.

Today’s game will be in the Knights Stadium of Charlotte. Then the series will return to the National Complex of USA Baseball organization to play the last two games.
