The triumph of Portugal in the EURO 2016 France is history now. But as it happens every time a great football event comes to an end, the Team of the Tournament was officially announced.

We can agree or not with the selected players. This Monday, UEFA made public its “team” and I personally do not agree with the exclusion of the Welsh strikerGareth Bale, who was the key player in the advance of his team to quarterfinals, where they lost to Portugal.

So, Englishman Alex Ferguson, who works as UEFA coaching ambassador said: "After quite a bit of deliberation, the observers chose a team that features the best performing players from the best performing teams at UEFA EURO 2016. We have chosen dominant central defenders; full-backs who can defend and attack; deep-lying midfielders who can control the game and dynamic, flexible and creative attackers, all of whom have the ability to create and score goals. We believe that the selected XI represents the best of the competition."

So the Team of the Tournament is composed of  goalkeeper Rui Patrício (Portugal); defenders Joshua Kimmich (Germany), JérômeBoateng (Germany), Pepe (Portugal) and  Raphaël Guerreiro (Portugal); midfielders Toni Kroos (Germany), Joe Allen (Wales); Antoine Griezmann (France), Aaron Ramsey (Wales) and Dimitri Payet (France); while the star player Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) is the forward.

Who is Éder?

The football fans have asked for information about Portugal’s forward Éder, who went down in history after scoring the winner (1-0) against France in the EURO 2016 final match.

ÉderzitoAntónioMacedo Lopes (Éder), naturalized Portuguese was born on December 22, 1987 in Guinea Bissau. His height is 1.90 weighting 81 kgs.

He was publicly known in Portugal’s SC Braga, where he played during three seasons. Then he moved to Swansea City of the English football league and his bad performance caused his transfer to Lille on a loan, where he established as a regular scorer after a good semester, giving way to the signing of a permanent contract with Lille.
