When Yosvani Alarcón stands in the batter's box, pitchers have to take care of the strength of his wrists. On Monday he showed the power of his swing with four homers, three in one game.

The fourth bat of Las Tunas Loggers fired three homers in the first of two challenges his team held yesterday against the Cubs in Holguin. The three, were in the centre field.

In the voluminous files of our statistician Benigno Daquinta, this is the second time the Las Tunas catcher has ravaged the rival pitchers. On March 2, 2011 he hit three balls out of the ground in La Isla.

Since the Industriales hitter Raul Reyes fired a trio of homers on January 28, 1968 against Azucareros, in the Latinoamericano Stadium, the event has happened 142 times. The Drum Major, Orestes Kindelan, was the author of such a feat seven times, and one of the most spectacular sluggers of Cuban baseball, "El Gigante del Escambray", Antonio Muñoz, did it four times.

But Alarcon, who now accumulates 87 homers in his career in national tournaments (11 series), was exciting on Monday, and in the second game of the double put music to another swing.

If he had hit another home run in a long day, he would have tied the record for a double bill, shared by Lazaro Madero of Pinar del Rio and Holguin’s Jorge Luis Dubois.

There is no doubt that Yosvani has secured a place in the starting line-up of the national team of Cuba in the Premier 12.
And howsoever missing only two subseries to finish the first stage of the National Series, here are the magical numbers for the classification of the teams that are at the forefront of the standings.

The reference is Guantanamo, occupying the ninth position with 19 victories and 18 failures, and must win the eight challenges that remain, they could reach 27 wins. Then, Ciego de Ávila with another success will be in the second phase; Industriales, three; Granma, 4, and Las Tunas, 5.
