EU-Cuba Agreement Was Ratified by European Parliament

STRASSBOURG, France.- This Wednesday the European Parliament approved by a large majority a ressolution ratifying the EU-Cuba Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement signed in December 2016 by the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Federica Mogherini, and the Foreign Affairs Minister Bruno Rodríguez.

By ratifying this agreement by 567 votes in favor, 61 against and 31 abstentions, the relationship between Brussels and Havana is making headway, and the “Common Position”, in force since 1996, was ended, as reported by the news media.

Member of United Left in the European Parliament Javier Couso, celebrated the “definitive burial” of the infamous “Common Position” promoted in Brussels by the then President of the Spanish Government José María Aznar. In a message posted in tweeter Cuban Vice Foreign Minister Rogelio Sierra Díaz highlighted the development of satisfactory cooperation actions of Cuba with the 22 EUmember countriesand the European Commission, Prensa Latina reported.
