Esteban Lazo Ends Working Visit to China

BEIJING.- After intense work sessions in this city and Shanghai, the National People’s Power Assembly Speaker Esteban Lazo Hernández ended his working visit to China in Jiangsu province, PL reported.

In Jiangsu, the Cuban parliamentarian leader talked with Deputy Director of the People’s Assembly Standing Committee of the region and also deputy secretary-general of the Communist Party of the Provincial Assembly Shi Heping.

Both sides remarked that the two nations are mutual references for the socialism-building process with their own features, and that such a province is an important source of experiences for the updating of the Cuban socio-economic model.

The Caribbean delegation also visited the city of Suzhou and visited cultural and economic centers of interest, especially the Suzhou Industrial Park, which houses 65,000 domestic and foreign high-tech enterprises.

Earlier, Lazo went to Shanghai, PL said, and met with the chairman of the Municipal People's Congress, Yin Yicui, with whom he corroborated the excellent ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations and between that territory and Cuba.

The discussions addressed, inter alia, the importance of further progress in strengthening interparliamentary relations, with an emphasis on sharing experiences, communication, and visits in both directions.

Shanghai is one of four municipalities directly subordinated to the central government, and one of the main centers of economic development. The visit also included the Kempinski Hotel, of which the Cuban-Chinese Joint Company Shanghai-Suncuba owns, with Cubanacán as majority shareholder.

From the beginning of his stay in China, on June 18, Lazo met with his counterpart, Zhang Dejiang, with the chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Yu Zhengzheng, and with the head of the International Department of the Communist Party Chinese, Song Tao.

In the capital of the Asian nation, the delegation was also at the Biotech Pharmaceuticals Co.Ltd joint venture, located in the Beijing Special Development Zone, dedicated to the development, production and marketing of monoclonal antibodies for the treatment of Cancer.
