Maduro said this during the fourth extraordinary session of the Political Council of the ALBA-TCP, which is taking place on the premises of the Casa Amarilla, Caracas, attended by the foreign ministers of the member countries of the regional bloc: Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, the Commonwealth of Dominica, St. Lucia, Granada, Ecuador, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis and Venezuela.
Maduro called for union, because "Separate we are nothing, we are simply prey to be captured by the largest eagle, together we are a power, together we are becoming ever more powerful." Such union he added, according to AVN, can "help adjust our common agenda to match the timing of the challenges and the challenges we already have today."
He said that after ten years since its creation, the Alba has shown "how much has been done, and above all, how much there is to do in the years to come to build the independence of our continent, the true union as a block that is present in the world as a block of peace. "
"Union is a great motor for independence, solidarity and love. It´s a great motor of the new world that has emerged from its roots, from the deepest roots that a pro-independence people may have," he highlighted in transmission on Venezolana de Television.
He stressed that the countries of the Alba form "the forefront of the new world that has risen up" product of the efforts of Fidel Castro and the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution, Hugo Chavez, from whose hands were articulating "the forces they awakened in this century throughout our entire region."
The member countries of ALBA-TCP agreed on Monday to work out a plan to confront the imperialist onslaught in the South and the Caribbean as well as the strengthening of the regional economy, announced Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez, when opening the fourth special session of the Political Council convened by Venezuela.
Commitment to regional unity to face the destabilizing efforts of the international Right was also confirmed. Rodriguez minister announced on Monday at the start of the meeting that the discussions would focus on the ´soft coups´ attempted for months by opposition sectors in Latin America and the Caribbean on US orders, with the aim of overthrowing the democratically elected heads of state, reported Xinhua.
The Minister also welcomed the process of regularization of diplomatic relations undertaken by the governments of Cuba and the United States, because of the resistance of the people of the Caribbean island to the hostile policy of the northern power for over half a century. Cuba is represented at this meeting in Caracas by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.
