Cuban Ballet Festival t be Named After Alicia Alonso

The 25th Edition of the Ballet Festival will be held from October 28 to November 6, and from this edition onward, this event will be named after Alicia Alonso as a way to pay honor to its Chairwoman and main inspiring founder.

First figures and the corps de ballet of the Cuban National Ballet, together with foreign stars and companies invited will perform the ballet presentations. In addition, choreographic pieces by national are foreign authors will have their premiers.


The Festival, one of the oldest and prestigious events in the dancing world, having a history of more than 50 years, and a biennial celebration, will take among its main venues Havana’s Alicia Alonso Grand Theater, the National Theater (Avellaneda and  Covarrubias rooms ), Mella Theater and Karl Marx Theater


Many activities will take place as part of the Festival like a course of ballet techniques for professionals, teachers and advanced level students; as well as a gallery exhibition in Havana, lectures, book launches, and movie and video cycles.


The Festival is a unique time for the artistic exchange between the dancing world first figures, personalities, critics, specialists and impresarios, and it’s also an exceptional opportunity for the lovers of this cultural expression.
