VARADERO, Matanzas.- Cuba is undaunted by US President Donald Trump´s policy putting obstacles to our development as a soveriegn country, and the country will advance all the projects in the touristic sector. Over four million visitors are expected in the current year, said Minister of Tourism Manuel Marrero Cruz at the opening of the International Varadero Gourmet Festival.

He stressed that the country will continue to support all tourism business managements, in a context where the self-employment linked to this sector is on the rise. Likewise, he praised the contribution in terms of quality offered by nearly 2 000 private restaurants and 22 000 rooms for rent throughout the country.

The priority in the Cuban touristic sector is to diversify and increase the quality of its offers, and it has placed special emphasis on catering, he noted.

He added that out of the World´s classic cocktails Cuba boasts ten, among them the Mojito, one of the most sold internationally.

As part of the event, to hold sessions until next 30 at the Plaza America Convention Center of this beach resort, with the turnout of 16 countries, Palmares Extra-hotelier Group President Jorge Luis Acosta, stressed that the contests and exhibitions of new creations in the Festival will show the world that the Cuban flavor can reach any corner and be everywhere.
