Facing the Sun and for Cuba

A camping will be staged by young followers of Martí on May 19 in tribute to the Apostle on the 122nd  anniversary of his death

Next May 19 Cuba will pay tribute to its greatest son: José Martí. The homage will take place in the Forests dedicated to Cuba’s national hero in every municipality and province of the country, spaces which will bring together young people of all ages to recall the Apostle in the 122nd anniversary of his death, as part of a camping they have called Facing the Sun and for Cuba.

The wee hours will be the occasion to welcome the next World Festival of Youth and Students, with the participation of the Young Communist League and their student and youth organizations, the José Martí Cultural Society, the Center for Studies on José Martí, the Revolutionary Armed Forces, and the Ministry of Interior.

Every territory will come up with ideas to commemorate Martí this May 19. In the forest area dedicated to the national hero in Ariguanabo, San Antonio de los Baños, Artemisa, the activities will open with a generational meeting with the topic: The young followers of Martí and Fidel.

Later on in the evening, the music played by young artists of the University Student Federation, the Hermanos Saíz Association and the Art Teacher’s Brigade will accompany the activity. The youth will also be true to traditions of past tributes.

Before dawn the youth will undertake a voluntary work in the lands of Ariguanabo, the wee hours will be good for everyone to express love for Martí through stories, poetry, songs and games in the Cuban fields. May 19 is a day to be in full communion with the spirit of the Apostle.
