As always, or now as never before, the commemorations for another anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution will serve to show the world, once again, the pride that Cubans feel for our land, our history and our plethora of heroes and martyrs.

We remain deeply shaken by the irreparable physical loss of the Commander-in-Chief, of our Fidel - it is a commotion that time cannot cure - but we must also feel comforted, stimulated by the days lived, when in every place of Cuba we pay respect, love and fervour to that man who now is all.

Especially admirable were the signs of affection of our children, adolescents and young people towards that Fidel who now dwells in each of them more vividly.

The commemorations for the 58th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution will be, then, days of jubilation, optimism, responsibility and confidence in the future of the country. It could not be otherwise.

We move towards another 1st. Of January, evoking the main events related to the landing and the trajectory of the Granma expeditioners to Cinco Palmas, where on December 18, 60 years ago, Fidel, Raúl and other comrades met again.

We will also commemorate the main actions of the Rebel Army and the clandestine fighters, which led to the definitive victory, always guided by the thought and the indelible presence of Fidel.

And Educator's Day, a key date for all, will have a special incentive this time: the 55th anniversary of the Declaration of Cuba as a Territory Free of Illiteracy. It will be an indispensable moment to honour and recognize our outstanding educators and all the workers in the sector, for their crucial work in the formation of values.

During these days Cuba must also be more beautiful. Workers, students and neighbours will be involved in the beautification of their work and school centres, their homes, the neighbourhood, the town, the city ...

As is traditional, there are popular fairs and farms; The gastronomic and commercial network is arranged to show its best face; In the recreational centres are organized the usual festivities, as in the public areas that usually work at the end of the year; And the television prepares a special program. Of course, it will not be so like other years. There are feelings that still overwhelm us and require moderation.

On January 2, the Military Review and March of the fighters will be held in the José Martí Plaza de la Revolución, dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the founding of our Revolutionary Armed Forces and the landing of the Granma yacht expeditionaries, and the 58th anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution. Also it will be a homage to Fidel and the Cuban youth.

During the beginning of the year we will again witness the commemorations for the Caravan of Freedom tour and Fidel's entry to Havana on January 8, 1959.
