Two tank trucks created a great arc of water on the runway of Holguín’s Frank País García airport welcoming Boeing 737 which marked the first American Airlines (AA) regular flight to Cuba this Wednesday at 11: 35 am to that destination of the western part of Cuba.

The traditional “baptism” welcomed flight 1041 coming from Miami, Florida with 92 travelers on board. Director General of Cuban Airports and Aeronautics Services S.A. (ECASA) for the northeastern zone, said that American Airlines will begin with two daily arrivals.

The executive highlighted the good technical conditions and preparation of the staff working in the facility to meet the travelers’ requirements, the visiting airline and the ones established by the US Transportation Security Administration.

Also Cienfuegos’ International Jaime González Airport received an American Airlines flight, whereby the service is reestablished after more than half a century off the list of commercial destinations.

AA Global Marketing Vice-president Fernand Fernández, said that following Cienfuegos’ and Holguín’s arrivals, 60 weekly flights will include other cities like Santa Clara, Camagüey, Varadero and Havana next November.
