A representation of the people of Santiago came on pilgrimage to the mausoleum of Frank País Segundo Frente Oriental to pay tribute to the heroine of the plains and the Sierra Maestra, Vilma Espin, on the ninth anniversary of her death.
There, where lie the ashes of the guerrilla, students of the Camilo Cienfuegos Military School of Santiago de Cuba placed a floral offering on behalf of the Cuban people.
In the event a message recorded by Asela de los Santos, dear friend and struggle companion of Vilma, was heard which encourages young people to preserve historical memory and approach the thought and work of the creator of the Federation of Cuban Women ( FMC).
Also, Evelín Torres Reyes, 11th. Grade student of the Rolando Matos Senior High School, of this municipality, spoke on behalf of the new generations, and said: "To speak of Vilma is to go to the synopsis of strength and delicacy. Today more than ever she is among us and it is up to young people to continue her legacy and example of heroism and patriotism. "
Those present laid flowers at the tomb of the Heroine as the culmination of this tribute, at which were Teresa Amarelle Boue also member of the Political Bureau and secretary of the FMC; the member of the Party Central Committee and secretary of this organization in the province, Lazaro Exposito Canto; Major General Rafael Hernández Delgado, head of the Eastern Army; Rodolfo Alarcón Ortiz, Minister of Higher Education; and other members of the Government and organizations in the territory.
