Meeting in Havana of His Holiness Pope Francis and His Holiness Patriarch Kiril of Moscow and the entire Russia
The Holy See and the Moscow Patriarchate have the pleasure of announcing that, by the grace of God, His Holiness Pope Francis and his Holiness Patriarch Kiril of Moscow and the entire Russia, will have a meeting next February 12. The meeting will be held in Cuba, where Pope Francis will stopover before continuing his trip to Mexico, and where the Patriarch will be paying an official visit. The meeting will be a personal exchange at the José Martí International Airport in Havana and will conclude with the signature of a bilateral declaration.
This meeting between the primates of the Catholic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church, which has been arranged long time ago, will be the first meeting in history, and it will mark an important stage in the relations between the Catholic and Orthodox churches. The Holy See and the Moscow Patriarchate wish that this will be a sign of hope for all men of good will. They invite all Christians to pray with fervor for the meeting to be blessed by God and that it will bear good fruit.
