Cuban exports will be promoted at 33rd Havana International Fair to take place in the first week of November in the EXPOCUBA fairground, whose pavilions will be packed out.
The Minister for Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca said that FIHAV 2015 will make the US economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba obsolete.
He told the press that through this Fair the international business sector is rejecting outright that policy, which is still in force, and reiterated that although US President Obama’s administration has adopted steps in the right direction, these are not enough, because they don’t touch the substantial elements of that policy.
The official said that in the exhibition the second version of the Portfolio of Foreign Investment Opportunities will be presented, following the principle of promoting projects with a certain level of study to make it easier for foreign investors to get information and increase their interest.
The portfolio advanced in strengthening the interrelations and production linkage, and the projects for various sectors were increased. “The portfolio of opportunities is evolving towards excellence,” stressed Malmierca.
About 30 top-level foreign delegations are expected to attend, an important number of them will be led by ministers, he added.
The chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba Orlando Hernández Guillén explained that FIHAV 2015 will bring together more than 370 national entities, spread out in nearly 5,000 square meters of exhibition areas, reinforcing the prime objective, which is the promotion of exports.
Chair of Palco business group, reported the attendance of some 600 companies from over 70 countries.
About 20,500 square meters of the 25 pavilions in Expocuba will be occupied by domestic and foreign stands, with almost the whole space taken.
