The giant smile, the expression of a hero, the look of he who always see further...All these motives were captured by the lenses of photographers who have left part of the visual stamp of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution on the pages of Juventud Rebelde (JR).

Thus, JR has collected 50 emblematic photos of  Fidel in the exhibition opened last Monday at the José Martí Memorial, as part of the celebrations for  its 50th anniversary that will take place next October 21, and with the intention of paying homage to Fidel on his 89th birthday and to celebrate International Youth Day.

A representation of the staff of the newspaper of the Cuban youth, accompanied by colleagues and directors from other press media and with the attendance of prominent Cuban intellectuals, took part in the launch of the photographic exhibition Un rebelde en Rebelde (A Rebel in Rebelde) opened by the First Vice-President  of the Councils of State and Ministers Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and the director of JR newspaper Marina Menéndez.

The Cuban President Raúl Castro sent greetings to JR on its 50th anniversary some minutes before the opening of the exhibition.

Díaz-Canel told the representatives of the press media that the way that JR has been paying homage to Fidel, represents a sign of gratitude to the founder of the newspaper of the Cuban youth, in addition to the celebration of his birthday. Those photos reflect the different facets of Fidel´s life, Díaz-Canel said.

For his part, the member of the Editorial Board of JR Yoerky Sánchez Cuellar said that «the rebel and youth spirit of the Commander in Chief is also present in his images; his permanent relation with the youngest; his concern for transmitting ideas to the people; the heat of his physical presence in the moments of sadness for the death of a friend or enjoyment in holding a compatriot. And in each of the faces is present the esthetics of his dreamlike stamp; the beauty of the soul devoted to the just and noble causes, as if those who have shown his profile and raised it to the posterity, were poets instead of photographers. »

Members of JR Newspapers present in the Launch.

In addition, the member of the Council of State and First Secretary of the National Committee of the Young Communist League Yuniasky Crespo Baquero; the Head of the Department of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) Rolando Alfonso Borges; member of the Central Committee of the PCC Jorge Risquet and personalities like Armando Hart, Eusebio Leal and Graziella Pogolotti, among other academics, collaborators and friends of Jubentud Rebelde also attended.
